Itinerary Detail
Board a flight to Leh from Delhi airport. On arriving at the Kushok Bakula airport, Leh (3,500 m), meet our tour representative. Get assistance for transfer to the hotel. Complete the check-in formalities as you savor your welcome drink. Settle in your rooms. The day is for resting and getting acclimatized to the high altitudes of Ladakh. Before any journey across this place, acclimatization is necessary. In the evening, walk up to the Leh bazaar to spot the hustle bustle. Overnight stay in Leh.
On day 2 of your tour, post breakfast, get all set to visit Indus Valley and explore its major attractions. While driving from Leh to Indus Valley, enjoy the scenic vistas of Ladakh, which will leave you spellbound. The barren yet enchanting landscape is worth every minute you spend here. During the sightseeing tour, you will visit some of the popular palaces and monasteries of the Ladakh region. Visit Shey Palace, which is located on a hilltop and was an abode of the royal family till 1834 AD. The Shey Monastery is located in the same complex as the palace. Both are located on the same hillock at 10 m high and houses a copper statue of Lord Buddha. The Gompa boasts of the largest victory stupa in Leh, the top of which is made of gold.
After this, you will head towards Thiksey Monastery, which is located at 3600 m above sea level. Renowned for its resemblance to the Potala Palace in Lhasa, Tibet. Thiksey Monastery is among the largest gompas in central Ladakh. It houses a 15 meters high statue of Maitreya Buddha, which covers two stories of the building. The monastery also houses some of the popular structures inside the complex namely Tara Temple, Assembly Hall, and Lamokhang Temple.
Later, you will visit Hemis Monastery, which is located on the bank of the Indus River. The gompa houses a museum that has a wide collection of Tibetan books, murals, frescoes, Thangkas, gold statues, and Stupas embedded with precious stones. It is believed that the monastery has existed since the 11th century and it was reestablished in the 17th century. After the exploration tour of the monasteries, you will proceed towards Leh.

Start the day by getting ready to travel to the Nubra Valley. Post breakfast, pack your bags and complete the check out formalities to head towards Nubra Valley. It is one of the most popular tourist destinations in Ladakh. The unique landscape has given it the name of ‘desert in the sky’. En route, you will take a halt at Khardung La Pass, which is situated at 5,609 m above sea level. This is one of the highest motorable passes in the world from where you can enjoy the enchanting beauty of the valley. Then proceed to Nubra Valley after enjoying some time at one of the world’s highest mountain passes. On arrival, visit Diskit Monastery, which is the largest and the oldest Buddhist Gompa in the valley. The monastery houses a 106 feet statue of Maitreya Buddha, which can be seen from kilometers away. It is the largest Maitreyi Buddha statue in Ladakh. The monastery is renowned for its antique and exquisite murals, paintings, and frescoes of ancient times. Learn about the history and culture of the region.
Afterward, proceed towards Hunder Sand Dunes to indulge in Camel Safari. Enjoy the ride on the back of the Double Humped Camel that is also known as Bactrian Camels. Day 4 is scheduled to visit the popular Pangong Lake, also known as Pangong Tso. Greet the day with a beautiful day with a hearty meal and complete the check out formalities to head towards Pangong Lake. Drive through the Chang La mountain pass, placed at an altitude of 5,360 m above sea level. While driving towards the lake, drive through Durbuk and Tangtse villages and witness the daily activities of the locals of the Changthang region. By the afternoon you will arrive at Pangong Lake, which is the highest saltwater lake in the world. The lake extends up to 160 km between India and China.
On arrival, you will be transferred to your camp. Complete the check in formalities at the camp and relax. The rest of the evening is at your leisure and you can spend the time at your own wish. The views around the lake are extremely enchanting and soothing. Pangong Lake changes its color from blue, green, and red at different times of the day. Spot colorful birds on the banks of Pangong. Do visit the local village in the vicinity to know about the local culture. You can spend your evening on the bank of the lake and witness the mesmerizing sunset. Enjoy a leisurely walk along the lake with your loved ones.

Start the day early before the sun is up. The mesmerizing sun rising over the lake is definitely one you would love to capture in your camera. Marvel at the blessed view of the surroundings. After the early morning photoshoot, return to the camp and savor a delicious breakfast. Pack your bags and complete the check out formalities. Begin your drive back to Leh. En route, you will cross Chang La Pass, which is among the highest motorable passes in the world. Situated at 5,391 m above sea level, Chang La Pass is named after Saint Chang La Baba. You can also visit the temple dedicated to the saint and offer prayers before proceeding on the journey to Leh.

Wake up to a beautiful day and after having breakfast, complete the check out formalities to proceed for a trip to Uleytokpo/ Alchi. You will directly visit Lamayuru and then come back to Alchi after the sightseeing tour. En route, you will visit Likir Monastery on the way to Lamayuru. The monastery is located at 3,700 m above sea level and there are various statues of Maitreya Buddha, Bodhisattva, Amitabha, Sakyamuni, and Tsong Khapa in the prayer hall. The gompa has innumerable Thangkas, manuscripts, and a collection of earthen pots.
Visit Lamayuru Monastery, which is among the largest and oldest gompas in Ladakh. It houses almost 150 monks permanently. From the monastery, you can witness the moon-like landscape of Lamayuru due to which is also known as Moonland. After spending some time here, you will head back to Alchi.
On arrival, you will have an assisted transfer to the hotel. Complete the check in formalities and relax. Freshen up and then visit the Alchi Monastery, which is located on the bank of the Indus River. The monastery is divided into four separate settlements with monuments that are dating back to different times. The paintings in Alchi Monastery are some of the oldest surviving paintings in Ladakh. Afterward, you can visit the nearby market or enjoy the natural setting of the town.

On the 7th day of the tour, you will start your journey towards Leh. After having a toothsome breakfast, pack your bags, and complete the check out formalities. Proceed for Leh by road and en route visit Rizong Nunnery, which is located in the rocky hilltop north of Indus River. The monastery comprises the frescoes of Dharmaraja and other deities. The statue of the Shakyamuni Buddha is the main attraction of the assembly hall, which also provides the hall a completely sacred atmosphere. The holy chamber, Thin-Chen shrine, etc have many other idols and all together create the harmonic serenity inside the monastery.
After a sightseeing tour of the monastery, proceed for Leh. En route, you will visit Magnetic Hill, which is also known as Cyclops Hills. This point defies the phenomenon of gravity. Witness the magnificent phenomenon here by parking your vehicle there and see the vehicle going upward. Also visit Sangam, which is a confluence point of Indus and Zanskar Rivers. Then visit the Military Hall of Fame, which is a museum constructed by the Indian Army to commemorate the brave Indian soldiers who laid down their lives fighting for the country. The museum is divided into different sections which contain several displays. There is a section named OP Vijay Gallery, on the upper floor of the museum and here you can see the various kinds of weapons used in the Kargil war, along with the various other arms and ammunition that were captured by the Indian Army during the war.
On arrival, you will be assisted towards the hotel. Check in at the hotel and relax. In the evening you will visit Leh Palace that is located at the top of the hill. This nine storey palace complex depicts the glorious past. You can see the collection of artifacts here and get glimpses of the bygone era. Afterward visit Shanti Stupa, which is a white-domed stupa situated on the top of the hill in Changspa. This is an abode of peace and serenity in Leh. From the top of the Shanti Stupa, you can enjoy the panoramic views of Leh town. The life-sized figure of the Lord Buddha is the main attraction of the Shanti Stupa. Lastly, you will visit the market in Leh to enjoy the rest of the evening.
